Well everyone if you've seen my video called new trains,new cars and 400 subscribers you might remember me mentioning about a surprize train I had on layaway. Well this is it and its a Proto 1000 Amtrak Phase 2 RDC2 # 36. Its my very first Amtrak RDC and its a beauty. Its been almost 3-4 years since i've seen a Proto RDC let alone an amtrak version. Shes a good runner but I am dissapointed that one of the rear piolet and steps are missing. I am thinking about using one of my junk athearn RDC's to replace the steps and pilot on this one or custom make one out of styrean plastic. that will be a bit tricky to do but I can do it. In this video I show her running in both directions,which allows you to see the directional lighting she has. When I was running her i notice that she is a bit louder then my Proto B&O RDC 2 and MBTA RDC 3. I'll make a video of them all running toegther soon. I really like the fact tht the proto 1000 units have a single power truck and are pretty heavy. They can pull several passenger cars and look great doing it. I've never filmed or remember trying tht but I might make a video of that also to show you. The details on this model match the prototype in everyway. Before amtrak modified them with diaphrams they looked like my model here.I highly recommend that if you find one of these in any railroad buy them becuase they are hard to find especially the Amtrak ones.
